Symptoms for Bad Brake Pads & Cylinders
- Low speed brake grind, pulling in out out of a parking
spot or parallel parking. Moments under light braking you can hear a
grinding metal on metal sound reverberating from the rotors.
- Extended pedal travel, when braking it requires extended
pedal pressure to engage the brake pads. Caused by overused or worn out
brake pads or a faulty master cylinder.
- Vehicle tucks forward or backward, caused by master
cylinder, or proportioning valve not dispersing fluid
accordingly.
Symptoms for Bad Brake
Rotors
- Car vibrating under heavy braking conditions. Coming to a
stop after highway driving, or abrupt or sudden stops. Car shutters as
brake rotors are getting uneven wear or are worn.
Symptoms for Bad Brake
Calipers
- Under typical braking situations vehicle will pull to one
side, caused by a sticking caliper or a caliper not engaging the rotor
surface.
- Grabbing or pulling when brake pedal is applied is a sign a
caliper is "frozen". The smell of burning metal and rubber coming from
a wheel is also a sign of a frozen caliper
- Caliper failure can cause the pedal to feel "mushy" or soft
when applying the break due to a leaky or bad seal.
